We live in an age of information overload, where anyone with an internet account has the opportunity to become an “instant expert”. Our work, however, is rooted in a traditional field… one that, since ancient times, has its product delivered by the toil of artisans and craftsmen creating shelter. This blog is our effort to bridge that gap. Here, we pledge to apply our team’s knowledge, the expertise of our trade partners, and whatever other resources we can to help our community navigate the complexities of their homes.
One thing we’ve learned is that there are typically no absolutes when it comes to our practice. Most issues involve a continuum where one attempts to find the best answer based on a set of prioritized objectives, which might include price, durability, or appearance. Even the simplest tasks are often fraught with condition particulars and details, a reality that can be at odds with the quick-fix, sound-bite mentality of modern media.
This space is intended to help you, do-it-yourselfers, as well as those who may wish for advice on a professional job. We’re reminded of a bike shop owner from my youth who told us, “if you want to do the repairs yourself, I’d like to help you”. In that same spirit, whether you’re a weekend warrior or planning a major renovation, we hope that we can get it done right, together.
